Privacy Policy — Name/Place

Last updated: October 22, 2026

Name/Place ("the app") is a multiplayer word game. This policy explains what information the app handles.

Information we collect

Display name. You choose a display name when you join a game. It is shown to the other players in your room.

Game data. The app stores your game rooms, answers, votes, challenges, scores, and chat messages so the game can work in real time between players.

Chat messages. Messages you send in a room's chat are visible to every player in that room. Please don't share personal information in chat. You can mute any player on your device. If you report a message, the message text, the sender's display name and random ID, and the room code are sent to us so we can review it.

On your device. The app saves your display name, a random player ID, and your current room code on your device so you can rejoin a game if your connection drops. You can clear this by clearing the app's data.

Anonymous account. The app signs you in anonymously (a random ID, no email or personal details) to keep your game session working.

How we use it

This information is used only to run the game — creating rooms, syncing answers and scores between players, and showing chat messages. We do not sell your information, show ads, or use analytics.

Data storage

Game data is stored with Google Firebase (Realtime Database and Authentication). Data is transmitted securely and is intended to be visible only to players who join the same room using its room code.

Retention and deletion

Room data is deleted when the last player leaves a room using the Leave button. Rooms abandoned without anyone leaving may remain until we clear them out. Game data is not used for anything outside running the game. To ask us to delete data associated with you, contact us using the email below and include your display name and room code if you remember them.

Children

The app is a general word game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here.
